According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) Jeju Air Co., South Korea's largest low-cost carrier, said Monday it has obtained an updated certification of safety from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), keeping up with global standards for safely operating its planes.

With the latest certification, Jeju Air is now registered with the IATA as having standards in line with the seventh edition of the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) evaluation program, the company owned by Aekyung Industrial Co. said.

The budget airline first acquired the IATA safety certification in 2009, and has since been renewing the credentials every two years.

Though not mandatory, the IOSA is a globally recognized system that assesses how an airline is operated. As of October 2014, a total of 402 airlines were registered under the evaluation program.
