(JEJU=NEWSIS) The Jeju Development Institute (JDI) announced that its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) will record KRW 25 trillion in 2024.
According to a report by the JDI, the GRDP will increase from KRW 19.1 trillion in 2019 to KRW 25.6 trillion in 2024 conservatively and KRW 21.4 trillion to KRW 25 trillion optimistically.
The GDRP of Jeju as of 2013 is KRW 13.1 trillion.
The preconditions to achieve the KRW 25 trillion level of GDRP include a population of 700,000 and 18 million tourists. Currently, the population of Jeju is 650,000 with 12 million tourists.
The Institute also pointed out the importance to promote policies that can improve the quality of lives of people in Jeju and generate regional employment and income.
