According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) Jeju Air Co., owned by Aekyung Industrial Co., said Wednesday that it has deployed its 20th airplane for service, making it the first low budget carrier in South Korea to do so.

The airplane put into service this time is a B737-800, the same as the rest of its fleet, according to Jeju Air. It also plans to deploy three more planes during the second half.

Earlier, Jeju Air, South Korea's No. 1 low-cost carrier, announced plans to increase the number of its planes in service to 40 by 2020 for around 60 flight routes.

With the new plane added to the fleet, Jeju Air said that it will hike the flights between Cheongju and the southern resort island of Jeju from twice a day to four starting from Friday.

For the Gimpo-Jeju route, the airline company also plans to increase flights from a current daily average of 20 times to a maximum of 25 times.

Launched in 2006, Jeju Air is pushing for an initial public offering in the latter half of this year, the first of its kind for a low budget carrier.
