Jeju Island's" Carbon Free Island 2030 (CFI 2030) policy is "drawing worldwide attention." The "P4G State-of-the-Art Partnership Awards" were held at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) held in Glasgow, Scotland, on November 9, in a bid to promote investment and developing countries' implementation of climate goals, and Jeju's CFI 2030 policy won the best partnership award in the energy sector.

Since Jeju Island announced the CFI 2030 policy in 2012, it has been actively pushing forward the renewable energy project under the slogan of "energy-independent island." Also, CFI 2030 was introduced at the Paris Climate Conference (UNFCCC COP21) in 2015 as the representative example in Korea. It was in the spotlight as it could be adopted in 2,400 cities worldwide.

Jeju Island has been leading carbon neutrality in Korea by standing at the forefront of expanding the use of renewable energy and distributing electric vehicles for the past decade. It now plans to overcome the climate crisis and promote green transition with the global community. As part of this effort, the island will continue to reinforce the climate action and solidarity of global society and promote the CFI 2030 policy around the world.

"I am glad that Jeju Island's challenges and achievements over the past 10 years towards carbon neutrality have been recognized worldwide," said an official from the local government of Jeju. "Jeju Island will open up the green future of Korea as a frontier of the Green New Deal."
