Jeju Province is conducting a private sector workation support program for employees and freelancers of companies located outside the island until November 11. Applications can be made through the Jeju Workation website, and the program will provide up to KRW 300,000 per person to cover shared office fees and leisure program expenses.
Enjoying Greater Benefits in the "Workation Paradise" of Jeju
Launched in July 2023, the private sector workation support program was introduced to boost local spending and attract tourists. Held twice a year, the program has become highly popular, often reaching full capacity early due to a growing number of applicants. In the first half of this year, 982 out of 6,800 participants received benefits, with 93% of the 554 survey respondents expressing high satisfaction and 99% indicating a willingness to participate again. Participants remarked that they "experienced a good balance of work and leisure in Jeju" and saw it as "an excellent opportunity for team building."
With growing popularity, the program has added new incentives this year, including offering a KRW 10,000 "Tamna Voucher" through a KB Kookmin Card promotion and sharing information on various cultural programs, as well as free and discounted tourist attractions for workation users. Additionally, companies and local governments across the country are organizing "On-Site Workation Consultation Sessions" and familiarization tours. Ahead of the program in the second half of the year, Kim In-young, Director General of Economic Vitality, stated, "We aim to promote Jeju's unique policies through public-private collaboration while revitalizing the local economy with the distribution of Tamna Vouchers. We will continue to pursue diverse initiatives that reflect Jeju's distinctiveness and foster regional growth." Jeju Province ranked first in a workation preference survey of 17 cities and provinces conducted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry last year, and in 2024, it was recognized for service excellence in the Workation category at the National Service Awards.
