(GUNSAN=Yonhap News) Gunsan City of North Jeolla Province, Kunsan National University, and K-ICT Startup Mentoring Centre joined hands to build foundation for smart agriculture and fisheries and create a hub space for business startup based in Saemangeum, the reclaimed tidal land on the southwest coast.

Participating organizations agreed to grow Saemangeum as the center of the fourth industrial revolution by developing an ICT-based convergence agriculture and fisheries business startup ideas and promoting industrialization of farming and fishing.

To achieve the goal, they will carry out various projects which includes: establishing foundation for specializing smart farming and fishing; implementing policies to secure space for startup incubation; identifying young entrepreneurs, supporting startup policy funds; consulting business startup; holding joint events; and sharing network.

"We are working on measures to create new growth engines based on the agricultural and fishery industries, which are main businesses of our region," a Gunsan City official said. He added that "We will push forward with the plan in association with national project to make Saemangeum the center of advanced agriculture and fisheries."
