(JINAN=Yonhap News) The County of Jinan-gun, North Jeolla Province, announced Feb. 2 it will give incentives to travel agencies that attract group tourists to the county.
For day trips, KRW 5,000 will be provided per person for every group of over 20 Korean tourists, or over 10 foreign visitors.
For overnight trips, KRW 10,000 will be paid per person (per night) for every group of over 20 Korean tourists (including those on a field trip), or over 10 foreign visitors.
As a requirement, day-trip groups must visit at least one tourist destination that requires an entrance fee, and one dining establishment; while overnight tourists must visit at least one tourist destination that requires an entrance fee, and two dining establishments, and stay at a lodging facility within the county.
Travel agencies that wish to benefit from the new policy should notify the County Office's Tourism Development Project Team its intent and tour plan 7 days prior to the trip, and submit documentary evidence 15 days after the final day of the tour.
Incentives will be given until this year's budget of KRW 10mn is exhausted.
