(WANJU=Newsis News) The new Wanju Sports Town set to be built in 2024 is expected to raise the sports infrastructure of North Jeolla Province to a new level.
According to the county, Wanju-gun will spend a total of KRW 55 billion (national government: 30%; province: 10%, county (gun): 60%) until 2024, on building the sports complex in Ungok-ri, Yongjin-eup.
On a vast site spanning 296,000m², the new sports complex will have a sports stadium, tennis courts, multi-purpose gym and other infrastructure necessary to facilitate various sports activities and events.
The County plans to carry out the development project on a full-scale in 4 stages, beginning this year. The first stage will see the completion of 16 tennis courts and a club house, in order to attract the tennis tournaments of the 2018 National Sports Festival, set to be held in the neighboring county of Iksan-gun.
When the complex opens, the County expects to attract various national events and off-season training teams, and thereby not only raise the image of the region, but also stimulate the local economy.
