(JANGSU=Yonhap News) Preparations to build the Red Food Convergence Center near the interchange in Gyenam-myeon, Jangsu-gun, North Jeolla Province, are currently well underway and on schedule.
According to Jangsu-gun on Feb. 16, the Red Food Convergence Center Construction Project, selected last Sept. by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as a project that meets local demands, is in the process of buying up the construction site and completing the basic and working designs.
If opened as planned in late 2019 on a site of some 25,000m², the Center will have cost over KRW 6 trillion, and house an observatory, an eco-duct for fishes, a vegetable garden, areas to experience various activities, such as farming and working with cattle and horses.
When the Center opens, it is expected to serve as a core hub that brings together the cultural tourism and regional industrial foundations that are currently scattered across the province.
