(JEONJU=Yonhap News) As a preemptive move in expectation of the 4th industrial revolution, represented by artificial intelligence, the city of Jeonju has decided to build an ecosystem for future industries, especially those involving 3D printing and drone technology.

Upon completion of Jeonju's Comprehensive Plan for New Growth Industries by the end of this month, the city plans to begin nurturing drone, 3D printing, internet of things (IoT), agriculture and biotech industries as new growth engines for the future.

To that end, the city will establish a network of internal and external cooperation with new growth industry development committees and government-funded agencies, and thereby actively respond to the changes and innovations expected to occur during the 4th industrial revolution.

The new foundation for cultivating the city's 5 major new growth industries will transform Jeonju into a leader of ICT and technological convergence between different industries.

The city also intends to establish itself as a smart city based on advanced future technologies that utilizes ICT, IoT and Big Data in all areas of urban management and operation.
