According to Yonhap News,

(JEONJU=Yonhap News) North Jeolla Province announced April 12 that an export-oriented advanced agricultural complex is being created across 700 hectares of agricultural land in Saemangeum.

As the province's first agro-life land project in Saemangeum involving the participation of agricultural corporations, the new advanced agro complex, based on a convergence model that incorporates both advanced agricultural and 6th industry technologies, will serve as an export base for growing high-added-value produce.

Construction began in 2103 across 1,513 hectares of land (30% of all Saemangeum farming land) that make up Zone 5, of which 75% is now ready for use.

Located near Changje-ri, Gwanghwal-myeon, Gimje-si, Zone 5 is easy to access and its partially exposed soil had already enabled the production of certain crops, raising hopes that the complex can begin growing crops as soon as construction completes, explained the province.

Recently, the province has begun publicly recruiting private businesses, and will announce its final decision by August.
