(JEONJU=Yonhap News) L-Tech International has relocated to Jeonju City, North Jeolla Province, from Guangdong, China.
It is the first case a Korean company has returned to Jeonju from a foreign location, excluding the Kaesong Industrial Complex.
L-Tech International makes light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs and other lighting fixtures and exports them to the United States.
The promising SME held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Jeonju factory on general industrial-use land in Palbok-dong on November 29.
A total of KRW 6 billion will be spent on building the factory, which will employ some 70 persons when it opens.
L-Tech CEO Park Yong-in noted, "Although there were many difficulties, the local government is helping L-Tech with every step of the relocation process," adding, "Based on its past experience, the company will strengthen its know-how to grow into a world-class maker lighting fixtures, and thereby contribute to the local economy."
