(IKSAN=Yonhap News) The city of Iksan in North Jeolla Province announced December 2 that it will complete construction of the Jewelry Gem Cluster by next month.

The Jewelry Gem Cluster is being built on a 12,000-square-meter site inside the Jewel Processing Industrial Park to secure competitiveness for the local jewelry and gem industry.

The three-story structure was designed to feature a knowledge industry center and design center, in addition to a 26-room factory, education rooms, equipment rooms, a design office, cafeteria, and a separate space for cultural activities.

The project to create such a cluster was launched to integrate the entire process of jewelry and jewel planning, design, manufacturing and sales in one location, and connect it with the local Jewel Palace, Gem Museum and other gem-themed tourist destinations to enhance the industrial competitiveness.

When completed, tenant companies will be able to use the equipment and facilities to design and make jewels and jewelry.
