According to Yonhap News,

(JEONJU=Yonhap News) Chonbuk National University announced on August 14 that it has decided to build an international convention center and recently started the construction.

The government will spend about KRW 18.7 billion by 2020 to build the convention center with one story above ground and two underground levels on the plot of 6,008 ㎡ with the total building area of 969.3 ㎡.

The center will have a large convention hall that can accommodate 450 people, 11 small and medium sized seminar rooms, a reception hall, a fitness center and a restaurant.

It will not only host large events, but also play the role as an integrated welfare center for the faculty, employees and students.

The traditional Hanok style buildings will be built in a square shape.

The Hanok convention center is the symbol of the very Korean campus, which the university pursues.

The center will stand in harmony with Geonjisan Mountain surrounding the campus.

"Building the convention center was the university's long-cherished project," said Lee Nam-ho, the President of Chonbuk National University, adding, "Large events organized by the Province can be held in one place, meaning that it would contribute to the regional development."
