(SUNCHANG=Yonhap News) Sunchang-county, Jeonbuk-do, knwon as a home to traditional fermented soybean product, is working on construction of a Fermentation Theme Park, initiated to lay the basis for the fermentation industry.

Sunchang country announced on February 9 that the construction began in April last year, and is underway with targeting 2021 for completion.

There will be a fermentation therapy center, a world fermentation village experience farm, a yeast experience exhibition, a world food science center, a microzyme exhibit hall, among others.

When completed, the county expects the theme park will be a base for the traditional fermentation culture industry integrating the fermentation industry and tourism.

Due to its proximity to a fork village, a synergy effect is expected to be created, combined with the traditional fermented soybean industry.

A county official said "this fermentation theme park will be a core project in establishing a base for the fermentation industry, which will be a future growth engine of Sunchang country".
