(JEONJU=Yonhap News) Jeonbuk-do will step up global marketing activities with setting the target of its agricultural & fishery foods exports this year at USD 340 million.

The target is a 10% increase from the previous year (USD 310 million).

To this end, Jeonbuk-do is to run five projects with KRW 3.6 billion, including support logistical cost for fresh produce exports, develop strategic export products, and pioneering new markets. KRW 3 billion logistical costs will be provided to about 900 farms exporting fresh produce.

Also, it designated pear and tomato as new strategic export products, and plans establish equipment and facilities needed for exports.

To diversify export markets, it will actively pioneer emerging markets like Malaysia and Vietam.

A provincial government official said, "With signs of globl economy slowdown, export conditions are not favorable. However, we will overcome with active marketing activities".
