On September 22, North Jeolla Province announced that it established a detailed implementation plan to go ahead with carbon industry development strategy.
Jeonbuk-do will run an investment agreement task-force (TF) together with Hyosung, which pledged KRW 1 trillion investment in carbon-fiber factory in Jeonju, to establish and implement 5-year carbon industry plan.
The 1st plan contains diversification of carbon materials market, expansion of materials application, R&D to create the ecosystem of carbon industry, establishment of facilities, and schedule to develop commercialization technologies.
It will also set up a council of carbon industry development participated by Jeonbuk-do, Hyosung, Jeonju-si, carbon materials
Jeonbuk-do will also accelerate the revision of the Act on carbon materials, which has been put on hold in the National Assembly, to set up Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency (tentatively).
The Province also set a goal of attracting 70 carbon-related companies and 20 R&D institutes and support facilities to form a cluster in "Jeonju Carbon Materials National Industrial Complex" designated in February this year.
