SM Steel, part of SM Group manufacturing affiliates, cut the first sod for the new facilities to produce steel plate on Jun. 10 in Gunsan city, North Jeolla Province. This KRW 150 billion worth new plant is built on a 67,000㎡ site with its annual production capacity of 100,000 tons. Steel plates are essential parts to build up generators, desalination facilities, petrochemical storage tanks and LNG carriers.

City mayor at the groundbreaking ceremony said “We’ll give an all-out effort to help the investor grow into the next leader of the global steel industry, going beyond Korea.”
