According to Newsis,

Iksan-si, Jeollabuk-do announced on October 6 that it was selected for the new and renewable energy convergence support project for 3 years in a row.

The project was hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and the Korea Energy Agency.

The new and renewable energy convergence support project is to be carried out in a way that supports up to 80% of the installation cost, financed by the national and local funding, of two or more types of energy sources, such as solar power, solar thermal power and geothermal power, in residential, public and commercial buildings.

With this selection, a total of 512 places including 467 solar power, 25 solar thermal and 20 geothermal power facilities will be installed in houses and buildings in 7 myeons (Osan, Hamra, Ungpo, Seongdang, Yongan, Yeosan, Chunpo) in 2022.

The total project expense will be about KRW 3.8 billion, including KRW 1.9 billion national funding and KRW 1.3 billion municipal funding.

The city will form a consortium with companies in the new and renewable energy field and design/inspection companies to supply solar power (1689kW), solar thermal power (25㎡), and geothermal power (350kW) facilities to these 512 places.

With this installation, it is expected to generate about 2158㎽ electricity per year and reduce carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas).

Since 2020, the city has been selected for the project for three consecutive years, and has built new and renewable energy convergence support facilities in 473 places in Hamyeol-eup, Hwangdeung-myeon, and Wanggung-myeon. In particular, with the national funding it secured this time, KRW 1.9 billion, up 36% from KRW 1.4 billion this year, the city plans pursue eco-friendly energy self-reliance.
