According to Newsis,

Gunsan-si, Jeollabuk-do said on February 4 that it will push for 2nd-year projects of Innopolis Innotown in earnest.

The city explained that "focused on the region's special area - eco-friendly EV parts and materials - we're preparing to accelerate the creation of Gunsan-Saemangeum EV innovation cluster."

Gunsan InnoTown, a R&D special district designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT, is a project to create a virtuous cycle industrial ecosystem in the regional economy through a transfer of promising technology from public research institutes; companies grow through technology commercialization, and then make re-investment.

The city received project budget support of KRW 7.2 billion last year for the first-year projects, and fostered research companies, business establishment, and growth of specialized enterprise by promoting technology commercialization of companies in the region, in such ways as discovery of promising public technologies, technology transfer and commercialization, and region's special growth support projects.

To attract companies to InnoTown and lay the foundation for fostering research companies, the city revised the ordinance about municipal tax reduction and added property tax reduction clause. To successfully implement projects, it also assigned manpower dedicated to fostering InnoTown and carrying out projects in collaboration with key technology-related organizations.

It helped 15 companies located in Gunsan, selected through InnoTown's expert examination committee, receive commercialization fund up to KRW 200 million per year, helping them carry out R&BD (commercialization, mass production).

The second year projects this year ared intended to support full life-cycle of technology commercialization through ▲connection with technology discovery ▲technology transfer commercialization ▲fostering InnoTown-type company establishment (Innopolis Campus project, accelerating support) ▲InnoTown special growth support (fostering innovative network, supporting the region's specialized companies).

In particular, the city plans to support various innovation cases and new technology creation by utilizing the InnoTown demonstration exception, establishing cooperative system between SMEs and innovation-related organizations, and connecting with companies participating in Gusan-style job creation.
