Korea's first zero-carbon ecological village will be built in the vicinity of Yongdamho in Jinan-gun, Jeonbuk.
On Nov. 22, Jinan-gun signed an agreement with the Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) Yongdamdam branch, the Geumgnag Basin Environmental Office, and the Yongdam Dam Residents' Council to carry out the 'Carbon Zero Ecological Village Project.'
Accordingly, in Noseong-ri, Shingoe-ri, and Ancheon-myeon near Yongdam Dam, waterside ecological belts, solar power plants, smart farms, guesthouses, and more, are to be promoted.
Jeon Chun-seong, the governor of Jinan-gun, said, "with residents' participation, such carbon-zero village, will greatly help improve the environment in the upper reaches of Yongdam Dam and co-exist cooperation with the local community."
