According to Yonhap News,
The Special Act on the Establishment of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province was officially published on Jan. 17.
Leaving behind the name 'Jeollabuk-do,' which has been used for 128 years, the province is to take the new name of 'Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province' starting from Jan. 18, 2024.
As the status of the province will be upgraded to a governmental title, Jeonbuk will be provided with administrative and financial support from the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Support Division under the Prime Minister.
The province also plans to mobilize all its administrative power as the establishment of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province is one year away.
Governor Kim Kwan-young said, "We will successfully complete our tasks regarding Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province and create a new Jeonbuk by promoting solid special policies."
