Jeonbuk State and Gangwon State joined hands for success of the special self-governing province and improvement in the quality of life of local residents.

Jeonbuk State and Gangwon State held a "win-win cooperation MOU signing ceremony" at Jeonbuk's provincial government on July 11 and adopted a joint agreement focused on securing decentralization and autonomy.

The signing ceremony was prepared with a goal of working together to overcome the crisis of the local era and find new growth engine through connection and cooperation between special self-governing provinces in the atmosphere of creating a nationwide mega city.

To this end, the two local governments agreed to cooperate on six projects, including: legislative activities and academic exchanges to strengthen autonomy; reflecting special self-government areas when establishing (changing) a comprehensive national territorial plan; revitalizing cultural and mountain tourism, and; revitalizing youth exchanges.

In particular, the two provinces expect that this agreement will draw positive responses from each ministry when carrying out legislative activities to secure local governmental autonomy.

After the signing ceremony, Gangwon's governor gave a special lecture to Jeonbuk's officials with the theme of "Jeonbuk and Gangwon, reliable friends that work together."

Jeonbuk's governor said, "Jeonbuk and Gangwon should cooperate in various fields," adding that "we expect this agreement will be regarded as a milestone in our cooperation going forward."
