According to Yonhap News,

The "Middle Market Enterprise Council" was launched on August 5, with participation of 14 MMEs in the Jeonbuk region.

The council held a launching ceremony at DH AUTOLEAD located in Wanju, and agreed to exchange informaion and support the growth of each other.

The council was launched, motivated by concerns about the possible marginalization of MMEs due to government's policy focused on supporting SMEs.

The MMEs are those with the total asses of KRW 500 billion-KRW 5 trillion, and have potential to grow into the range of large corporations.

Although it accounts for a small share of all companies, it has a great influence when it comes to exports and employment, playing the role as backbone of the industry.

Jeonbuk's provincial government participated in the ceremony, and held a meeting with the council afterwards, introducing various innovative ways to make Jeonbuk a business-friendly region.

Jeonbouk state plans to create a virtuous cycle of revitalizing the local economy by expanding the scope of corporate growth support policies to include MMEs.
