According to Yonhap News,
From January to June this year, container traffic in Gunsan port increased by 21% year-on-year thanks to economic recovery.
North Jeolla Province said on July 22 that container traffic in Gunsan port stood at 61,989 TEU, up from last year's 59,932 TEU.
This is in contrast with Masan, Mokpo and Ulsan ports, which experienced a decline of container traffic in the same period.
The rise of container traffic in Gunsan port is attributable to increase of exports and imports to CHina, and opening of seaway between Gunsan and Lianyun in China.
A provincial official said that an increase in container traffic created related jobs, and the province will support to the fullest to increase container traffic.
