According to Yonhap News,
Jeonbuk is devising various plans to minimize the losses on local agriculture from the ratification of KORUS FTA in the US Congress.
Korea Rural Economic Institute estimates that the KORUS FTA will cost local farming households a total of up to KRW 84.2 billion.
In response, Jeonbuk plans to focus its support on farming households.
It will pursue the 6th industrialization of agriculture by linking production, processing, and sales of agricultural products. It will also expand the scope of agri-insurance against natural disasters, and cultivate value-added food industry.
An official said that the province will increase the budget in the agricultural sector.
