According to Yonhap News,
The Hanok Village (Korean traditional house) Village in Jeonju, north Jeolla Province (Jeonbuk) saw in increasing number of foreign visitors.
The number of foreign visitors recorded 144,000 in the first half of this year, up a startling 166 percent from the previous year's 54,000, according to Jeonju.
The number of foreigners who used accommodations near the Hanok Village also amounted to 15,500, up more than 40 percent from 11,200 in 2011.
The total number of domestic and overseas visitors posted an 18 percent increase from 2.01 million to 2.47 million.
The dramatic rise in the number of visitors seems to be attributable to people's growing awareness of the Hanok Village, encouraged by various events including Year of Visit Jeonbuk and Yeosu Expo, Jeonju analyzes.
