The 90th OECD Tourism Committee International Conference and Forum, co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and OECD, was held from Monday to Wednesday at Muju Deogyusan Resort in Muju, north Jeolla Province (Jeonbuk).
The event began with an opening remark by Commissioner of OECD Tourism Committee Isabel Hill. This year's conference and forum, held under the topic of "Sustainable Tourism" and "Green Tourism," drew about 150 people from 34 OECD countries.
They discussed service trade in the tourism industry from Monday to Tuesday, mainly focusing on how to develop and facilitate the industry and assess the industry's competitiveness.
On Tuesday, OECD and APEC co-organized a forum on how to strengthen competitiveness of the tourism industry with experts from home and abroad attending.
On last day, participants visited Jeonju Hanok (Korean traditional house) Village and the Saemangeum Seawall.
The OECD Tourism Committee, founded in 1948, is designed to utilize tourism as a source of economic development and holds a conference biennially.
