Jeonju city announced that its makgeoli project was selected as a success case by the Presidential Committee on Regional Development.
The city invested total KRW 1.5 billion from 2011 to 2013 to develop cultural content and makgeoli-related projects. It also build experience zones and brewery to improve appearance of the makgeoli street.
The project was well aligned with image of Jeonju as a city of food and Korean-style houses. Also it drew active participation from citizens for successful project, according to Jeonju.
Vice Jeonju mayor Jang Sang-jin noted that the recognition held to enhance prestige of Jeonju as a city of food, adding that it will help make the makgeoli street as a national tourists destination.
