Jeonju City, a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, will reinforce exchanges and cooperation with other cities.

The city attended the 2013 Creative Cities Network Annual Meeting, held in Bologna, Italy last week and, to promote the Korean cuisine and traditional culture and discuss cooperative measures.

In addition to Jeonju, 34 Creative Cities from 19 countries, including Seoul and Icheon, participated in the meeting.

At the 2013 annual meeting, Jeonju suggested future direction of UNESCO cities of gastronomy and endeavored to build an international network with other creative cities.

The city will visit Östersund, Sweden this week to sign a memorandum of understanding for establishment of a food city federation and tour a food festival.

UNESCO named cities that conserved and developed traditional cuisine with creativity as City of Gastronomy. Jeonju, Chengdu, Popayan, Östersund were designated last year.
