Jeonju Signs MOU with India's Carbon Tycoons

(JEONJU = Newsis) Jeonju established a firm cooperative relationship with two tycoons of the Indian carbon industry.

The city announced on 31th that it signed a business agreement with Haryana State in India, the leader of the Indian carbon market, followed by concluding MOU with Maharashtra State.

A delegation including Mayor Song Ha-jin of Jeonju City and the Chairman of Jeonju City Council Lee Myeong-yeon on 30th visited Mumbai and signed a business agreement with the Minister of Industry Narayan Rane and Cooperative Minister Harshwardhan Patil.

The agreement is to strengthen exchange in the fields of carbon fiber and automobile industries by conducting collaborative research for new technology and promoting technological transfer.

Two parties also agreed to work together for further develop the regions’ industry and increase competitiveness.

Mayor Song also signed another business agreement with Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture, and invited Vinnie Mehta (The Chairman of Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA)) at the end of 2013 to Jeonju.

Carbon businesses which took part in the delegation also achieved various business outcomes. AG Industries, an Indian company that produces injection model parts for vehicles, expressed its intention to purchase injection molds produced by Hangukmold.

More discussions regarding the investment and conclusion of contracts between carbon businesses and the members of ACMA continued. India’s SANDHAR Technology also expressed deep interest in the products of Hangukmold.

“The delegation achieved much more outcomes than we expected.” Mayor Song said. “The city of Jeonju will further develop the carbon industry by establishing a firm cooperative relationship with Haryana State and Maharashtra State.”

“We hope that our relationships will be the powerhouse for the development of both South Korea and India.” Chairman Lee said.

The delegation plans to visit the headquarters of Reliance Industries Limited, India’s top fiber enterprise, to discuss the collaborative development of carbon fiber composite component and investment.

Maha Rashtra is the largest commercial area and international trade port in India, and it achieved a high level of development in automobile, steel and chemical industry.
