According to Yonhap News,

(NAMWON = Yonhap News) The city of Namwon in Jeollabuk-do successfully reflected its eco-friendly cosmetic cluster development project in the national budget.

The city announced on January 8 that it secured a total of KRW 1 billion in the national budget for the development of the eco-friendly cosmetic cluster, aiming to develop the cosmetic industry as the city’s new growth engine and resolve the polarization of its industrial structure.

Lee Hwan-Joo, Mayor of Namwon, visited the National Assembly and other relevant authorities for several times in 2014 and promoted the project to the standing committee and budget committee.

The project, which was designated as Jeonbuk’s “one city, one project” project, has secured KRW 1 billion for its budget since 2012.

The local economy is also expected to be vitalized as the cosmetic industry of Namwon also attracts the major pharmaceutical firms who are interested in entering the manufacturing sector.
