(MUJU = Newsis) Muju-gun announced on March 11 that it will provide necessary equipment for the production of gastrodia in a bid to establish a stable production infrastructure for the product.

Muju-gun produces a total of 479.7 tons of gastrodia from a 59.4 hectare land, which accounts for about 51 percent of the national production and 86 percent of the North Jeolla Province. It also generates KRW 3 billion of income for local residents.

There are five gastrodia processing companies in the region, and the sales of the companies are about KRW 7 billion per annum.
