(JEONJU = Newsis) Four cities and counties of Jeollabuk-do including Gunsan and Buan were nominated as the environmentally-friendly agricultural zones.

Jeollabuk-do announced on April 9 that it nominated four of its cities and counties as the environmentally-friendly agricultural zones to develop a stable production infrastructure for environmentally-friendly agricultural products.

The nominated cities and counties include Napo District of Gunsan-si, Bibong District of Wanju-si, Samgye District of Imsil-gun, Byunsan District of Buan-gun and Jusan District of Buan. The province plans to invest a total of KRW 2.04 billion in these districts.

A representative farmer or a producers’ group of a region with more than 10ha of farmland and more than 10 farming households is eligible for the province’s project.

“The province will work hard to develop a solid infrastructure for the environmentally-friendly agricultural zones to provide high quality foods to schools in the province,” said an official of Jeonbuk.

The province has designated a total of 53 districts as the environmentally-friendly agricultural zones since 2004.
