(IKSAN=NEWSIS) The Iksan National Industrial Complex in North Jeolla Province will be transformed into a smart and innovative complex by 2023.

North Jeolla Province, Iksan City and the Korea Industrial Complex Corp. signed an investment agreement to establish a comprehensive business center and a convergence cluster in the Iksan National Industrial Complex on December 15.

The comprehensive business center, which will become the starting point of the advancement of structure project, will be built on 9,500 ㎡ of land by 2016.

A total of KRW 22.4 billion will be invested in the project including KRW 4 billion of government expenses, KRW 4 billion of regional expenses and KRW 14.4 billion from the Korea Industrial Complex Corp.

Also, a convergence cluster will be created on 65,151 ㎡ of land, which will comprise a comprehensive business center, knowledge industry center and public facilities by 2023.

The agreement will help to turn the outdated Iksan National Industrial complex into a high-tech industrial complex where culture and life coexist and welfare and convenience facilities are provided to workers and residents.

"Iksan is ready to become the leading high-tech industrial city in the Honam region. The investment from the Korea Industrial Complex Corp. will enhance the innovative capacity of companies in the Complex and prepare a virtuous cycle of research and production to boost investment," said a city official.
