Agraferm Technologies AG, the leading agricultural and industrial wastewater treatment company in Germany, will establish a base in North Jeolla Province to enter the Korean market. Director Eike Liekweg of Agraferm Technologies AG signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vice Governor Lee Hyeong-kyu of North Jeolla Province to build a base in the province on May 30 in Germany.

Agraferm Technologies AG is a new and renewable energy company in Germany that specializes in livestock manure management, wastewater treatment and new and renewable energy production. Established in 2004, the company has 90 employees and records around KRW 80 billion of sales annually. Agraferm Technologies AG, based in Pfaffenhofen, is located within 30 minute reach from the Munich Airport and it boasts over 20 years of knowledge and experience in biogas. The company owns the core technology to remove the impurities from the domestic waste and it is also the leading biogas producer in Europe. The company is winning more contracts thanks to its high-level technology and reliability. It has also turned the Royal Duchy of Cornwall into an energy-independent city in 2012.

“The MOU with Agraferm Technologies AG will be a great opportunity for us to develop the livestock manure and wastewater treatment technology by adopting the advanced technology. Germany is an excellent region to benchmark as the country operates 8,000 facilities to transform the livestock manure into resources since it has stopped dumping waste into the ocean in 2012. The MOU will help Korea to build livestock manure treatment facilities and new and renewable energy production plants, learn about the operation of these facilities and attract more investment,” said CEO Kim Seong-dae of Daehyeon Green Inc.

“Agraferm Technologies AG is interested in producing biogas and electricity with livestock manure in Korea. Therefore, we will strive to build strategic partnerships between Agraferm Technologies AG and regional companies and carry out joint investment projects, “said a provincial official.
