(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) The Asia Content & Entertainment Fair in Gwangju, the biggest cultural contents exhibition in Korea opened at the Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju City on Sep 22, 2016.




The four-day event is hosted by the Minisry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Gwangju City and organized by the Kimdaejung Convention Center, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, the Korea Cable TV Association, the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, and the Gwangju Design Center.

This year's event is expected to draw 430 cultural contents companies from 37 countries and 200 foreign buyers, which is the largest number on record.

Major cultural contents organizations including the China's Guangzhou Animation and Cartoon Association, the Tunisian Association of Creative Technologies, and the Media & Entertainment Association of India will set up a joint exhibition booth in the cultural fair.

Buyers will come from all around the world including China, Iran, Croatia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

Korean media channels including KBS N, MBC+, SBS Medianet, and CJ E&M as well as independent productions and distributors will present latest UHD and VR contents.

Academic events and seminars on the latest trend of cultural contents and a live-streaming show are scheduled to be held as a part of the fair as well.

The fair has attracted 3,043 companies from 297 countries over the past 10 years. It has been selected as a promising exhibition by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for five years in a row and certified by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) for six consecutive years.
