According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning announced that it opens the K-ICT Gwangju Smart Media Center and K-ICT 3D Printing Gwangju Center.

The Smart Media Center is equipped with prototype test facilities and office spaces suitable for locally specialized industries and supports commercialization of small and medium-sized venture companies.

Starting from the Seoul Center in 2014, two centers in Gyeonggi and Daegu went into operation last year.

When centers in Gwangju, North Gyeongsang and North Jeolla open this year, a total of six centers will be in operation.

Local 3D Printing Center supports production of 3D printing equipment and prototype and technical mentoring by linking 3D printing technology with locally specialized industries such as smart materials, carbon convergence and smart devices.

It also collaborates with local companies, universities and related organizations to support product development and business startup.

"The Gwangju Smart Media Center and the 3D Printing Gwangju Center are expected to be the foundation for the growth of small and medium-sized venture companies. The government will also strive to create a competitive virtual reality (VR) and 3D printing industry ecosystem," Choi Jae-you, vice minister of science, ICT and future planning, said.
