Gwangju Mayor Jumpstarts International Cooperation on Eco-friendly Cars

(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) Gwangju Mayor Yoon Jang-hyun attended the 'China EV100 Forum' on May 15 and said, "Gwangju will lead the eco-friendly automotive industry and new energy industry, and create the new paradigm of the fourth industrial revolution through cooperation with the international society."




He gave a presentation on Korea's electric vehicle industry and Gwangju's vision at the forum and emphasized that policies for electric cars have become indispensable for the sustainable future.

"The Korean government and businesses are not sparing any effort to develop eco-friendly cars and new energy industry," Yoon said during the presentation.

Yoon introduced Gwangju as city with the 50-year history of the automobile business and presented on the progress of the construction of the city's eco-friendly automotive components cluster.

He also emphasized cooperation with China's Joylong Automobile and India's Mahindra Motor Group and the city's businesses network with auto makers at home and abroad to foster the electric car industry.

In addition, the mayor spoke about the city's plan to build an industrial ecosystem tailored to various needs as well as an initiative to foster the on-demand electric car business which can cater to diversifying demand.

The EV100 Forum was attended by officials from the Chinese government, industrial experts, and automobile makers from around the world to explore the policy and development direction of electric vehicles.

Latest trend of the Chinese market as well as global trend, information and technology of the electric car business are shared at the event.
