According to Yonhap News,

(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) Opening this coming Sept., the Gwangju Design Biennale is expected to focus on how the 4th industrial revolution will change our lifestyles in the future.

According to the Gwangju Design Center on Jan. 28, this year's Gwangju Design Biennale is set to open for 46 days fro Sept. 8 to Oct. 23 at different venues, including Gwangju Biennale exhibition sites and the Asia Culture Center of Korea.

Last Dec., the Center appointed president Chang Donghoon of Samsung Art & Design Institute (SADI) as the general director, and has begun preparations for the event.

While the 2015 Biennale had focused on Industrialization, this year's event will pay special attention to the 4th industrial revolution, and prepare accordingly.

On Feb. 16, the Center plans to announce the event's theme and general plan, and select an event planner that will be in charge of all actual planning and preparations.

After choosing a comprehensive exhibition plan in late April, the Center will make its final decision on participating designers and businesses.

All eyes are on General Director Chang, who was crucial in the development of Smansung's Galaxy S3, at the time the world's best-selling smartphone, to see how he will bring to life this year's Design Biennale.

Under the topics of globalization, popularization, industrialization, and systematization, the Center plans to raise its status in the world through the event.

Especially, the event is set to take place by linking the car and new-energy industries, currently being cultivated with special attention by the City of Gwangju, with the 4th industrial revolution, as well as by expressing the city's spirit of "sharing and consideration."
