(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) Gwangju announced April 13 that it has installed 16 slow EV (electric vehicle) charging stations at key public locations (e.g., apartment complexes) across the city.
By location type, 7 stations were installed in apartment complexes, 2 in commercial buildings, 1 at a convalescent hospital, 4 at the city hall and 1 at the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service building.
It is the first time in Korea for EV charging stations to have been installed at public locations such as residential and commercial buildings.
The city plans to install an additional 55 stations by the end of this year, and will pay for all expenses, including installation, electricity, and charging fees.
KEVCS, on contract with the city, will be in charge of installing the stations, as well as the subsequent operation, management and maintenance.
