Gwangju Signs With KATRI to Cooperate on Eco Cars

(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) The Korea Automobile Testing & Research Institute (KATRI) has agreed to actively cooperate in Gwangju's efforts to revamp itself into a leading eco-friendly automotive city.

Gwangju mayor Yoon Jang-hyun met with KATRI director Gwon Jang-hyeon at the institute's headquarters in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province, and discussed how the two parties could work together on achieving that goal.

Mayor Yoon said, "the national government has promised to support Gwangju in creating jobs based o eco-friendly cars," adding that he hopes "the collaboration with KATRI will lead to greater accomplishments."

In reply, Director Gwon expressed that he is watching Gwangju push forward with certifying Joylong Automobile with great interest," and vowed to help the city create jobs in automotive and auto parts industries.

Established in 1987, KATRI has a ten testing facilities that are mainly used by automakers, automobile importers, and auto parts makers.
