(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) Gwangju Metropolitan City announced December 27 that it will be launching its initiative to create an auto parts cluster, with projects to develop auto parts technology starting early next year.
The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) held a public contest for new technology development projects.
Gwangju was selected for 16 of the 18 finalists, attracting KRW 42.3 billion of the total funding of KRW 44.4 billion.
For the next five years, the the city will develop shared platforms for electric vehicles, convergence electric auto parts, lightweight auto parts, and special-purpose vehicles.
