(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) The Solar Wind and Earth Energy Trade Fair (SWEET) 2018, a major exhibition specializing in the products of new and renewable energy, opened at the Kim Dae Jung Convention Center on March 14.

The three-day fair, co-organized by the Gwangju Metropolitan Government and the Jeollanam-do Provincial Government, and co-sponsored by KOTRA, Korea Energy Management Corporation, and the Kim Dae Jung Convention Center, will feature the latest developments in the photovoltaic, wind, secondary cell, smart grid, electricity, and power plant technologies.

The fair features more than 500 booths, which were set up by 186 companies, including major Korean public corporations such as Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Korea Gas Corporation, and KEPCO KDN, as well as leaders of new and renewable energy in Korea, including LSIS and Scotra.

The fair offers a wide range of business-related activities and opportunities, including meetings on exports with select buyers from 23 countries as well as briefings on the energy investment environment in the United States.

The fair also provides diverse programs for academic discussions and learning, including training for officials in charge of assisting convergence projects for new and renewable energy, the Renewable Energy 3020 Forum, and a seminar on the operation of the latest-technology electric equipment.
