According to Yonhap News,

(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) The Air Appliance Innovation Center, intended to support the development and certification of innovative appliance products in Gwangju, will come into being.

The Gwangju Metropolitan Government held a signboard-hanging ceremony on March 16 for the Air Appliance Innovation Center that is now part of the Gwangju headquarters of the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI) in the Hi-Tech Industrial Cluster.

Air appliances refer to electric appliances that manage the quality of air in home environments such as air conditioners, air purifiers, and dehumidifiers.

Once completed in October this year as planned, with a budget of KRW 22 billion, the center will feature three floors, providing a total area of 2,020 m2.

The center will be equipped with the facilities necessary to test and evaluate air appliances.

The center will also support local enterprises in their efforts to develop new technologies as well as strengthen networks and relations for exports.

A metropolitan government official explained, “The air appliance market is growing rapidly in Korea due to fear of particulate matters and air pollution. The new center will help local suppliers of air appliances evolve into strong specialists of air appliances.”
