Gwangju Speeds Up Development of Eodeungsan Tourism Complex

According to Yonhap News,

(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) Gwangju's Eodeungsan Tourism Complex project is gaining speed with open recruitments for private companies and an evaluations committee.

On May 16, the city of Gwangju announced, "We are holding an open recruitment until May 29 for members of an evaluations committee that will judge the business plans submitted for the Eodeungsan Tourism Complex subsidy project by private companies."

A pool of 33 people will be recruited, out of which 11 people will be selected as judges for the evaluations committee.

Only people who majored in related fields, professional engineers or certified architects are eligible, including full-time university professors and research fellows at research institutes.

The city plans to select a group of preferred bidders by the middle of June through the evaluations committee.

In order to encourage a fair and transparent evaluations process, an assessment group made up of citizens will also take part in the evaluations.

The Eodeungsan Tourism Complex development project will involve the construction of various amusement parks, recreational facilities, hotels, golf courses, landscape green spaces with private capital totaling KRW 340 billion.

Gwangju City has held a private committee to resume the development of the tourism complex that has been in a standstill for the past 10 years, and has drafted agreements with citizens and SMEs organizations.

A Gwangju City official stated, "We plan to form the evaluations committee by the middle of June to judge the submitted business plans as well as the feasibility of the project." The official added, "We will select the preferred bidders in a fair and transparent manner."
