Gwangju City to Build Special Complex for Root Industries

(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) On July 22, Gwangju City announced it will designate a part of the 3rd Pyeongdong General Industrial Complex as a special complex for root industries.

In order to strengthen the competitiveness of companies in root industries, Gwangju City made a request to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to designate a part of the 3rd Pyeongdong General Industrial Complex as an eco-friendly surface treatment specialized complex at the end of January.

The specialized complex will take up 74,089㎡ of the 1,1178,000㎡ general industrial complex.

The special complex will receive nation funding for the establishment of a network structure for collaboration, planning joint innovation tasks, joint innovation activities and the establishment of joint use facility for waste water treatment, waste heat recovery and air pollution prevention.

Gwangju City is expected to receive a boost from the surface treatment integrated complex composition, which is part of a the 7th general election policy committment.

In particular, Gwangju City will construct a joint wastewater treatment system by attracting surface treatment companies scattered in Hanan Industrial Complex and other local companies to the special complex and establish a surface treatment technology support center to strengthen the competitiveness of the underdeveloped surface treatment companies.

The city will also introduce environmentally friendly wastewater treatment and air pollution prevention systems to create a pleasant working environment.
