According to Gwangju City on January 10, four places in Gwangju were selected for the government project related to the expansion of life-friendly public sports facilities last year. As such, the City secured KRW 1.6 billion government fund and started four business projects.

The "Open Gymnasium Construction Project in Pyeongdong Industrial Complex" was selected for the "Support Project for the Construction of Open Gymnasium in Industrial Complex" organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor last March.

With an investment of KRW 10 billion, the open gymnasium in Pyeongdong Industrial Complex would be built in 4,000 square meters with one underground floor and three above-ground floors by 2020.

The City has begun the process of establishing basic construction plans. It also plans to build cultural facilities such as libraries, child care facilities and an indoor gymnasium.

The City also facilitates another open gymnasium construction project in Bitgreen Industrial Complex, as part of establishing a local business model fostering mutual benefits between companies and workers.

Scheduled to be completed by 2020, the open gymnasium will be about 3,800 square meters size with one underground floor and three above-ground floors. Gwangju City will make a KRW 10 billion investment to carry out the project.

The project includes construction of a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a children's playground and a multipurpose room.

The City builds a life-friendly National Sports Center in Mudeung Stadium and Sangmu Citizen Park.

The City will invest KRW 14 billion to build the National Sports Center, which includes a small gymnasium, a swimming pool, a fitness room and a multipurpose room in the area of ​​3,000 to 3,200 square meters.

The project period is until 2020 for Mudeung Stadium and until 2021 for the Sangmu Citizen Park.

By creating a complex life-friendly public sports facility, the City expects to improve citizens' standard of living.
