(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) Specialized Fair on New & Renewable Energy, SWEET 2019 (Solar, Wind & Earth Energy Trade Fair) was opened at Kimdaejung Convention Center, Gwangju on March 13

It is co-hosted by Gwangju city and Jeoonnam-do, and co-organized by Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korea Energy Agency, and Kimdaejung Convention Center.

For three days through March 15, energy new technologies and the latest information on various fields such as solar energy, wind power, rechargeable battery, hydrogen, smart grid, power plant will be displayed.

About 222 bodies from around the world will participate, including public organizations like Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Korea Gas Corporation, KEPCO KDN, and leading enterprises in new and renewable energy field including Shinsungeng, and OCI power, with about 500 booths.

In particular, about 50 companies from Gwangju, Jeonnam like BA energy, Topsolar, Eco Electric Power and Hysolution also take part.

Various business programs will be offered during the trade fair, such as business partnering with foreign buyers from 20 countries, purchasing consultation for large or small and medium companies, joint purchasing consultation, Energy valley job fair co-organized by Gwangju and Jeonnam, and class for new and renewable energy enterprise.

Global Photovoltaic Conference hosted by the Korea Photo-voltaic Society will provide a venue for photo-voltaic experts from home and abroad share information.

In a hydrogen energy industry promotion discussion session, expert groups involved in the government's "hydrogen economy promotion roadmap" will discuss measures to develop local hydrogen energy industry and facilitate the hydrogen industry.

Gwangju city mayor said, "There is need to transform energy policies to address global issues such as global warming and particular matters," adding that "we expect this SWEET 2019 will be an important chance to secure national future growth engines and lead energy new industries responding to the 4th industrial revolution."
