According to Yonhap News,

(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) Gwangju city announced on April 3 that 2019 World Human Rights Cities Forum will be held at Kim Daejung Convention Center from September 30 through October 3 with a theme "Local Governments and Human Rights: Rethinking Human Right Cities".

The city had a planning committee at city hall on April 1 to confirm the schedule, theme, and programs.

This year's theme was chosen with an aim to strengthen cooperation with local civic society and re-define long-term tasks to achieve actual human rights improvement of citizens.

The Forum will be consisted of 34 programs in 8 sections, including official events, plenary session, thematic session, network session, special session, human rights educational sessions, special events and side events.

In particular, the annual conference of members committee, housing right session, educational program on local governments and human rights, proposed by 4 international human rights organizations and groups.

The network session of human rights activists, ombudsman session, and workshop for international human rights education will newly introduced.
